What is Hair Transplantation?
According to the different needs of people, the recommended treatment methods and scope for hair loss may vary. As a treatment method offered as a solution to hair loss, hair transplantation is carried out in the form of transplanting hair follicles on the nape of the neck or in any part of the body to places where clarity and sparseness occur. In this procedure, which is performed by specialists in the operating room under sterile conditions, the openings in the crown and forehead are treated by removing the hair follicles from the stronger areas, one by one, and transplanting them to the needed places after local anesthesia. This process is not painful and can take about 4-6 hours depending on the size of the area to be planted. It is extremely important that the technique applied is correct, that the newly planted hair adapts to the scalp and grows in a healthy way. After the operation, it is recommended that the person rest at home for a few days and not go out. A few weeks after hair transplantation, the hair will fall out, but the hair follicles will remain in place. After this shedding hair, new hair will grow from the hair follicles that have settled on the skin in a healthy way.
Hair transplantation is applied with two basic methods:
What is DHI (direct hair transplant method)?
What are the differences between FUE and DHI hair transplantation?
For hair transplantation with the FUE method, hair follicles are first collected from the donor area. These are classified and stored in a separate place. Then channels are opened in the area to be planted. Collected grafts are placed in these open channels.
The hair follicles taken from the donor area with the DHI method are placed directly into the area to be transplanted with a special pen-like medical device without waiting. Unlike the FUE method, root canal opening and root placement occur simultaneously with the tip of the pen. In other words, the channels do not need to be opened beforehand in the area to be planted. In addition, the collected hair follicles grow healthier as they wait outside the body for a very short time and quickly settle in their new places.
FUE steps
-Collection of hair follicles
-Accumulation of collected follicles
-Opening of channels to the planting planned area
-Transplantation of follicles into opened channels
DHI steps
-Collection of hair follicles
-The canal is opened with the tip of the pen and the follicle to be transplanted is placed in its place.
What are the advantages of DHI hair transplantation?
The exclusion time of hair follicles removed from the donor area is very short. The longer the waiting period, the more likely the hair follicle will be damaged.
The narrowest diameter required for grooving is the tip of the pen that carries the hair. That is, since the channel is of minimum width; 50% more grafts can be placed in the area to be transplanted than the FUE method. The most common sowing can be done with the DHI method. In this way, a more intense and natural appearance can be obtained.
In the DHI method, the damage that occurs when placing the capillary roots in the area to be planted is minimal. Therefore, crusting after sowing is less common. Recovery time is shorter.
In the DHI method, it is easier to give natural direction to the hair follicles during transplantation.
With the DHI method, sowing can be done without having to shave completely. It is an important advantage especially for female patients.
Result:
A closer look to natural hair is obtained. There is less edema and less crusting, so the recovery rate is also high. High hair density can be achieved as more frequent planting can be done.
What is the FUE method?
Here’s what you need to know about hair transplantation, the treatment method for people who have lost their hair due to age, genetics or external reasons.
Hair transplantation has become very popular in recent years and has become popular. The reason for this is that with the development of treatment methods, hair transplantation has become a much easier and painless procedure.
With the FUE method, which is the most used method in hair transplantation in recent years, the person can easily achieve the desired appearance. Our doctor about hair transplantation treatment explained the FUE method as follows:
In the FUE method, hair follicles taken from a specific area of the head are added to areas without hair. For this, the hair in the area where the roots will be transplanted before hair transplantation is shortened to 1 mm before follicle removal. The area where the hair will be transplanted is anesthetized with local anesthesia and the process of transferring the hair strands to the balding part begins. Thanks to local anesthesia, the person does not feel any pain or pain. In addition, since the method does not involve cuts or stitches, it is generally painless. The process of the treatment that progresses in this way is as follows:
FUE Steps
The transplanted hair falls out at the end of the first month.
- 2 or 3 months after hair transplantation, the hair that has been shed begins to grow back and grow.
- After 6 months, the hair becomes remarkable and regains its natural appearance after 1-1.5 years.
- Since the transplanted hair is the person’s own hair, the hair that starts to grow in the balding area becomes the person’s normal hair color and shape.
- Since the transplanted hair is taken from the hairy area that is coded not to fall out, there is no shedding after the transplant.
- If possible, unshaven hair transplantation method, which restores natural hair in 2-3 days, can also be applied.
Advantages of FUE Method
Using the FUE method, the treatment gives results in an average of 1 to 1.5 years. The most positive aspect of this treatment is that there are no cuts or stitches in the area where the hair is taken.
There is very little pain after this surgery and the recovery time is very quick. Scratches can only be found in the area where the hair follicles to be transplanted are taken, but they also heal very quickly.
