Breast Augmentation Surgery
What is breast augmentation surgery?
Breast augmentation surgery is an aesthetic practice of women with a breasts smaller than the desired dimensions. Breast enlargement surgeries are very easily applied today and even ordinary operations.
In breast augmentation surgeries, today, the silicone gel -filled prosthesis (breast implant) is accepted as a gold standard. Fat injections, which have been popular recently, are also applicable in appropriate patients; With the more permanent effect, breast augmentation surgery is a standard method.
How to perform breast augmentation surgery?
Silicones are placed by entering 4-5 cm cuts under the breast. The prosthesis is not placed in the breast tissue. It can be placed under the breast tissue or under the muscle located in front of the rib cage. The level of the application is decided as a result of interviews and examination with the patient. The anatomical structure of the person, the elasticity of the skin and so on. Factors play a role in making this decision.
There is no single type of silicone prosthesis to each patient. The use of quality silicones of reliable companies that have made a worldwide name is an important issue here. If these silicones have been used for more than 30 years, if they choose the right doctor and center, patients do not need to have the slightest trust problem.
One of the most common questions about silicone prostheses is whether prostheses cause cancer; As a result of the researches, there is a small risk between breast prostheses and cancer development. This risk is much less than that of a problem when you drive a daily car. The number of cancer cases due to prosthesis detected in breast augmentation process all over the world is below 100 compared to current data. On the contrary, the risk of breast cancer is low because the breast tissue is small in women who apply for breast augmentation operation.
The breast silicone can be placed under the nipple, end or under armpits. It is applied under general anesthesia in the operating room environment and the whole process lasts around 45-60 minutes in total. The patient may need to stay in the hospital on the day of the surgery. The patient stands up the day after surgery and may return home. After a 3-4 day rest period at home, the person can return to his daily life again and smoothly.
Who can be applied to breast augmentation surgery?
In people who will have breast augmentation surgery, chest dimensions are small compared to the body. Small breasts may occur with congenital or after pregnancy volume loss. In addition, if there is asymmetry between the two breasts, breast augmentation surgery is applied. Breast augmentation surgery and two breast tissues are made more similar.
Provided that there is no medical obligation, breast augmentation surgeries should be applied to those older than 18 years of age. Due to the continuation of the age of development under the age of 18, it is not appropriate to perform breast augmentation surgery.
It is not the right time for the surgery for candidates who plan to become a mother in a short time after surgery. It is recommended that the breast augmentation operation should be postponed after pregnancy for women who plan pregnancy, continue to breastfeed and gain weight in recent years.
After breast augmentation surgery?
After surgery (after awakening from anesthesia), there is usually not much pain. The feeling of tension can be. The breasts can be seen immediately and can be felt. A special winding is made due to the necessary pressure on the chest. In addition, drains can be placed in order to remove the leaks that may occur at the place where the prosthesis is placed. If the drain is placed, these drains are taken after a few days after surgery. Personally, I prefer not to use drains in patients where I only apply breast prosthesis. In the early days, the breasts are expected to encounter numbness or vice versa.
Patients can start fluid intake about 6 hours after surgery. In the morning surgeries, the patient may be discharged on the same day. Patients usually return to their homes after surgery. The first week should be lying on his back. It is useful to restrict turns.
2 days after surgery, the patient is allowed to take a shower. During this period, the patient’s first dressing is also made. On the 2nd day after surgery, the winding is dressed and the dressing is dressed in the athlete bra. This bra should be stuck continuously for 3 weeks for 3 weeks.
The first 4 days after surgery is the most intense period of complications. Edema, tension and possible color changes are seen in this period and it is recommended to spend this period resting. These complications begin to alleviate and pass at the end of a week. The person can drive a few days after surgery and return to his social and business life again. After the 8th week, patients can return to sports such as fitness, tennis and swimming.
As the edema is dissolved over time, the shape of the breast is increasingly healing and becoming natural. The fact that the breast takes the full shape can take the 4 or 6 months, and even this period can be extended up to 1 year.
There is no problem with breastfeeding after breast augmentation surgery. Since the breast tissue is not removed during breast augmentation surgery, it is not possible to damage milk ducts. For this reason, after breast augmentation surgery, women can breastfeed their babies without any problems.
